About me

About Alex

A wandering path through tech, making, history and democracy — here’s the short version.

Hi, I’m Alex

I’m a maker, writer and perpetual learner. I like building things, following my curiosity, and switching fields whenever the work gets more interesting.

Here’s a bit of the story so far — and you can also find me around the web.

I consider myself an inventor. I’ve invented a smart back panel to prevent back pain. It has an open hardware license, so it’s free to copy and use.

I love to write, that’s the main reason why I opened a blog my first time. You can find some short Italian novels.

I’m a tailor and a backpacker designer. Here you can see some backpacks made by me.

I studied Information and Technology at high school. I had to repeat one year, I ended up leaving high school.

I worked as a system administrator for a big company, then I decided that I was wasting my life and I went back to study IT.

The world has something wrong: I decided to look at the past to be able to make the right step in the present, so I studied History at Università degli studi di Milano.

I love the Internet World and the sharing philosophy. I love blockchain (the technology), it makes easy what otherwise would impossible: my History thesis is about blockchains and you can download it here: Blockchain: decentralization of money, power and the state

I’m very interested by the opportunity that technology offers in therm of democratization of the entire society, that’s why I created democracyroutes.com

Oh, I also write on my old blog www.9minuti.it and I do online chats with university professors, writers, politicians, etc.

Current Projects

globstory.it

I’m developing a platform to study history. The idea is to create a series of digital projects related to history, in therms of research, education and learning. The platform is open source and mainly made with AI. Hopefully this project will see other people joining in the future, so that a community dedicated to digital humanities can be created.

democracyinnovators.com

Hosting Democracy Innovators Podcast is a way for me to research about the insersection of technology and politics. Guests are founders of civic tech applications, researchers and politicians. The podcast is about how democracies can evolve, not only on the technical side, but also in relation to society.

democracyroutes.com

I’m really interested in politics and many times I wondered why some people participate in the public life, in a way or another, and some not. I thought that it could make sense to mix politics with technology.
Democracy Routes is a digital platform for civic participation. The idea behind is to make civic participation easier for everyone.
